The Bergen County Animal Shelter is located at 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ. The phone number is 201-229-4600. Hours for adoption are 1:00 to 5:00 seven days a week. Thursday we are open from 1:00 to 7;30.
Darla (ID#58386) – This poor senior kitty was dumped outside the shelter in late October. Darla is about 12 years old. She is a domestic, short hair black and white cat.
Darla has tested negative for Felv/FIV. She is a quiet cat that just seems to want a soft place to sleep. She would do best in a quiet, adult home. Darla has been spayed and is ready to leave the shelter for a new home.
Oolong (ID#58269) – Oolong is a two year old black and white Dutch rabbit. He is very sweet and is accustomed to being handled. Oolong has been altered and is looking for his forever home.
Rockie (ID#54345) is a very handsome, 3-4 year old pit bull terrier mix who was a return adoption because he was too playful, strong and hard to handle. We’ve found him to be very friendly and he has shown no aggression but he does need additional leash training.
His owners told us Rockie is housebroken and OK with older children and other dogs. Rockie calms down quickly when he is outside and does not bother with the other dogs.
Rockie knows the sit command and takes a treat very gently. He needs lots of exercise and a strong leader. He is very willing to learn. He just needs an owner willing to give him a chance to show him/her what a smart boy he can be.
Bekgu (ID#54217) came to the shelter when his owner moved into an apartment. He is a white, medium sized, male Jindo dog who is 3 years old. This breed originated in Korea.
The owner told us Bekgu is housebroken and he does seem to go as soon as we take him out. He behaves well in the kennel and enjoys human attention. He is a bit uncomfortable with his paws and legs being touched so we would recommend a home with no children.
Begku needs lots of exercise and once he has established a trust with his new family, will make a loyal companion. Bekgu is altered and ready to meet his new family. Can you open your heart to him?
Cleo (ID#55068) is a small, adult female rottweiler. She is 3 years old. Her owner told us she is housebroken and OK with children and other dogs. Cleo is a bundle of energy and needs lot of exercise.
She would do well with a family that will include her in its outdoor activities. Cleo is now one of the volunteer favorites. Cleo is motivated by food which will help with her training. Can you open your heart to this sweet girl?
Dunkin (ID#56293) - Dunkin came in with Cookie, a German Shepherd Dog, after their owner abandoned them at a boarding facility. Cookie was adopted and poor Dunkin is still waiting for his new home.
Dunkin is a 9 year old, yellow lab mix. We recommend a home with no other dogs. He is calm, mellow and easy-going with humans. From one of our volunteers: "Dunkin is very easy to walk. He loves to sit by my side for serious ear scratching from his human companion.
He takes a treat very easily from my hand and did not seem to bother with the dog in the next outside pen." Dunkin does not require much exercise and would do best in a quiet adult home. He will make you a great companion.
